More than 100 SEIU Local 615 workers who clean planes at Logan International
Airport began a 24-hour strike last night after the failure of contract
negotiations with their employer, facilities management company Aramark
Corp., union spokeswoman Sarrin List said. The workers, contracted to
clean planes for
Delta Air Lines
and United Airlines, belong to SEIU Local 615, a national union
affiliated with the Service Employees International Union. The
employees went on strike after reaching an agreement with the
Massachusetts Port Authority so that necessary security precautions
could be put in place, List said. About 20 workers are striking at a
time, spread out over three shifts, she said.
This strike received national press attention, from Washington, D.C.,
